In an effort to increase the use of Indiana-grown ingredients in Brewers of Indiana Guild members’ beers, we’ve created a program called “Bicentenni-Ale”–the name is a nod to the state’s 200th anniversary–which is focused on encouraging Hoosier brewers to use ingredients sourced from here.
The project is an official Bicentennial Legacy Project ensorsed by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.
Malt: Pale, Caramel
Hops: Cascade, Citra, Equinox
Our medium-bodied ale pays homage to this Hoosier fruit with 300 lbs. of locally harvested, Indiana persimmon pulp with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Caramel malts pair nicely with the persimmon, resulting in a beautiful golden, orange hue.

Inspired by the Brewers of Indiana Guild’s call to make a Bicentennial Ale that celebrates Indiana turning 200 by sourcing ingredients locally, we decided to pull yeast off cobwebs that were around the brewery.
This Belgian-esque yeast is combined with malts from Sugar Creek Malt Co. that include a lavender-smoked malt.
Hopped throughout with Sybilla and Pilgrim from Sugar Creek Hops, the local ingredients make for an interesting, refreshing Belgian Pale.
